Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 17 minutes of:
40 Burpees
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
30 Burpees
135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
20 Burpees
165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
10 burpees
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible

All I can say is that I totally and completely underestimated the effect of the burpees on the snatches. The round of 75#s took twice as long as expected and it everything I had to get 15 snatches in 4:10, which is just under my Elisabeth pr. 40-30-30-30+15 135#s at the buzzer. Fletcher, you are going to regret your 226#s as much as I regretted my 215# on those damn burpees!
ReplyDeleteThis may be the perfect open workout. The burpees give the advantage to the body weight specialist and the snatches give the advantage to the strenght specialist. I think it evens out pretty well.
Justin did you get all 30 Snatches @135 and then 15 Burpees? That's damn impressive if you did.
ReplyDeleteNope. 15 snatches at 135#s was it. I posted it wrong. Those snatches are so fucking hard it is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteI am going to try again tomorrow, but I really have no strategy on how to improve. The burpees and 75#ers just had me so gassed I was in full on metabolic derangement when I started the round of 30 burpees...
Still damn impressive. No way I'm putting up 15 135#'s but I will certainly try!

I didn't see the face off, but I did watch Julie and I should have realized this was going to be ridculous when she had to break up the first set of snatches! She is a machine.
ReplyDeleteThat might be a point of help though, if you have some small steel plates it would be way easier to not have to go all the way to the floor on the round of 75#s.
Should I do this, or Adrian tomorrow AM? I got up at 4AM today and started working. Couldn't WOD
ReplyDeleteFletcher, to really have the true crossfit experience, I think you should do the run/lunge/squat WOD tommorrow, then Adrian on Saturday and then 13.1 on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteOf course if you want to have the best score possible on 13.1, then I would do that in the exact opposite order.
OK I did Adrian yesterday (as you know) which I really had a hard time with. I skipped the run/lunge/squat. I don't know if you guys read about that 640M lunge I did on the cruise, but that's enough lunges for a while. That one hurt.
ReplyDeleteToday I surprised myself... did I actually get more snatches at 135 than Justinius the Strong? Why...yes... YES I DID. Let's see where Chris ends up. A new number to shoot for, sir.
I got through 26 snatches. Rested a few minutes, then banged out 4 more pretty much unbroken.
Score = 126. That puts me in 448th place worldwide for Masers 40-45 LOL. But hey, I only had to go to page 8 out of 35 pages. The thing is, I think I can do a little better now that I have been through it. I think I could get all 30... and if you can do that, then you can really get your points up if you can bang out a few burpees at the end.
The 57 beers I had yesterday did me no favors with this WOD. Burpees destroyed me. Your numbers are safe with me Craig and Justin. The 135# snatches were tough as shit for me. I only managed to get 12.
