30 Muscle Ups For Time

I had to put a post out here for this, because it's missing!

We already saw that Jacob did this in 3:46 (PR). That is beyond bad ass Jacob. You are a machine. Dude, get the heavy lifts figured out and you'll win the games!

My shoulder and my pussness do not allow me to do muscle ups. I feel embarrassed posting my results after Superman's (Jacob!) post, but hey, I'm an old man. I can't think of any other good excuses. Jacob is just 100 times more bad ass than I am, that's just the way it is!

60 jumping muscle ups - 6:55

Then put on the 20 lb weight vest and did:

5 rounds of 12 pullups and 15 pushups in about 11 minutes

It took a long time because of muscle recovery. I started with 12 pullups and 8 ring dips, or so I thought, but weighted ring dips were just too hard. I could barely do 3 even in round 1. I'm not so good at ring dips.

Last couple of rounds pullups were like 2 or 3 at a time with a good 15 seconds in between efforts, pushups were really hard too for some reason. Surprising what a difference that 20 lb vest makes!

  1. Go for 30 Mega Muscle-ups for time Fletcher, it's a kick butt progression.

    1 Mega Muslce-up is...

1 False grip ring pull-up, to 1 muscle-up, to 1 ring dip, all in one movement while holding the rings. If you can consistently crank out 2 of these bad boys a minute, you'll be slaying regular muscle-ups in no time.

  2. Travis and I did this together. He got a 3:51 and I got 4:05. He went off right away and did 10 and then broke it up by 5's I tried to break it down by doing 1 every 6 seconds. I like coming out of the gate swinging better.
Then I did Angie yesterday and finished it 14:07. Thrusters here i come.

  3. Totally bad ass you guys, wow. I am such a wuss compared to you guys.

Myles, do you guys follow the main site WODs or do you do your own most of the time? I'm sure you get plenty of exercise participating with your clients, or are you usually more just yelling at them and coaching them, etc.

  4. I try not to over work myself. When it is time to teach Travis and I usually don't workout just try to stick to coaching. But when I hit it I try to hit it hard. I am following a Shoulder press and Clean lifting progression and I hit one of those every week. Also mix in the main site wods with additional running of some sort. Most of the time it's 2 different workouts in a day. And try to do that 4 times a week. I also spend time stretching and working on skills that I suck at. I have some goals to accomplish. To name a few A 200lb or more snatch, a sub 2:30 fran, 1000 plus CFT again, and 500lb dl. So I am working towards those goals. Now for the heavy thrusters I will post later.
