CHIPPER

  1. Jabob: Fuck yeah!

WODoers: Did this rx'd except for I used my sand bag for the push presses. This was fucking hard. Fingers went completely numb cause I had to keep setting the 45# plate down in the snow. The walking lunge was so much harder than I could have ever imagined. TT= 44:06

Shoulders were a little tired too from a cross country ski date with a very cute blonde girl yesterday. She invited me back to her place after the ski and I think I rounded third base before the home plate umpire held me up on my way to the plate. I feel like I got the green light to finish what we started on the next date. It was fun and she was fun, my kind of girl. Single isn't so bad.

  2. Nice!... The WOD I mean... and the girl too... probably more the girl... yep, the girl!

I might be high, but I think you'll see people take down the Chipper sub 19:00 today on HQ. I have a plan and will let you know how it goes when I give it a try today.

Rest day tomorrow for me, I'm due!

I'll have Evan record the Chipper today and hopefully catch lightning in a bottle on film.

    Will let you know.

  3. Justin "Perserverance" Kallal is your name. I'll take a lesson from you and put gloves on for the OH Lunges. I'll be out in the snow too....

Keep in mind these guys and gals did this WOD after getting pounded by 7 other WODs over the games weekend before this one. They were already trashed! Jacob, I think you're right. I saw a guy post sub 16 already, but again, these athletes were already a mess. You have to wonder what the top ten in the games could do here if they were fresh.

I'll do this tomorrow. My garage still smells like a meth lab and is a total mess. The construction crew leaves today and they are also having the garage professionally cleaned because it got so nasty out there. That was where they stained, lacquered, and sealed (twice) 17 doors. Those are some hard core chemicals.

  4. Way to go Justin - on both. Other than the impossible Walter Payton Walk on Hands WOD, this might be the toughest WOD yet. Because of all the transitions on this one, I had to split it up into 3 sections.

    #1 - 15 Squat cleans, 30 K2E (Toe to bar sub), 30 Box jump, 15 (Jumping) Muscle-ups - 12:43

    #2 - 30 db Push Press, 30 DU's (unbroken), 15 Thrusters, 30 PU's, 30 burpees - 20:07

    #3 - 300' Lunges w/ 45 plate overhead - 7:17

    Total working time(excl. transitions) = 40:07
    Total Overall - 53-55 minutes

Got stuck talking to one of the trainers after my jumping MU's. She said she was also a "ring enthusiast" and we talked about MU's/MU progressions and she also showed me how to get into the inverted position. So, I learned how to do something new today!!

Now, I am wishing that I wouldn't have rode my bicycle to the gym today. That is gonna be a bitch getting home without falling over. Later fellas.

  5. "The Chipper"

    For time:
    15 Squat Cleans, 155lbs
    30 Toes to bar
30 Box jump, 24 inch box
    15 Muscle-ups
30 Push Jerks, 40 pound dumbbells
    30 Double-unders
    15 Thrusters, 135lbs
    30 Pull-ups
    30 Burpees
300' Walking Lunge, 45lb Plate Overhead

    Jacob 20:20

26" Box, 45lb dumbbells and 100 meters walking lunges outside 28 Degrees, roughly 328 feet.

Times as I progressed throught the WOD were as follows...
    1:38, 3:15, 4:24, 5:42, 8:25, 8:55, 11:20, 13:00, 15:55 and 20:20

This WOD sucked and if the guys who did it for the games were fresh I bet they would be at least 10% faster, so you'd be looking at times in the 18:00's.

  6. This was a hard WOD. I can't imagine doing this after 7 other events. Had a few subs as well.

30 K2E for the Toes to bar
30 Pullups & 30 Rings dips for Muscle ups
90 Single unders for Double unders.

No frozen fingers from the snow, but some nasty rug burns from doing the walking lunges on carpet. Jacob again awesome job. It's damn impressive to go up against 130 other people and come out in the top 15. It proves you are among the best. You should be proud of yourself. I know everyone on this blog and your blog definitely are.

    Oh yeah, TT: 33:44

    Rest day, thank you.

  7. Jacob....Very impressed, congrats on all your hard training paying off.

Justin, I see your training is paying off too, alright...get some~

Fellas, way to attack the chipper. I thought this was a gnarly one and remember it well seeing it live. Great work, just finishing was impressive it was a grueling event.

Saturday I did a wod at CrossFit South Tahoe. They hosted us for a wod and a meeting to plan a contest on April 17, which will include 9 local affiliates.

    WOD: TWO FACE
Teams of two perform either the weights or bodyweight side of the WOD the run 400m together then switch. Total of 6 400m runs.
    21-15-9 of:
    Pullups, 24" box jumps, burpees
    Deadlift 185lb, Push press 75lb, kbs 70lb.

My partner and I finished at 31:04 (I actually finished at 30:25).
Fun workout, cool to have a partner from another gym and good to see other local gyms space and operations. PS dryheaved trying to meet pukie on the 4th run halfway through. Ran best on 5 and 6 weird.

    Take it easy boys! TW

  8. Finally back home last night after being at mother in law's for 5 days. The new trim and doors look awesome. Spent 40 minutes cleaning the garage gym @ 5:30 this morning, totally dusty and heinous!

Jacob, great work. Your time on this WOD is retarded.

I did everything RX'd except I couldn't find my one of my 40 lb dumbbells so I upped it to 45 (could have went down to 35 but no!) and subbed for the MU's. I did a cool sub for the MU's to more emulate the explosion of the muscle up. After today I am starting to think that MU's are in my near future, I need to take the time and get them done. My sub was 21 "nipples to bar" pullups and "thumbs to armpit" (deep as possible) ring dips. I could only do pullups THAT high one at a time (I went as high as possible, higher than regular chest to bar, big huge kip required). They really winded the crap out of me. It seems like that's about the same height needed for the MU, so now I just need to work on the technical aspect of the transition to the ring press. I'm gonna get it damn it.

I was also really slow on the double unders. Overhead walking lunges were tough, did them out on the snowy/icy driveway and was slipping around. Dropped the weight several times. The thrusters took forever too, like 2 or 3 at a time. blah blah blah. I was happy to get this one in the books.

    TT = 39:42

  9. Congrats Jacob, taht is kick ass! And kick ass on your time on this shit'in WOD.

This was hard. Was wiped out after the thrusters. Did sub 2 pull-ups/dips per MU. 50 feet at a time on the OH Lunges. Was killing me today, the little brown people running and clening the gym were giving me the funny looks today, like what in the hell is that crazy American doing?? The I laid on the floor for awhile and I could feel them hovering, from a distance anyway, wondering if I was going to get up. I wondered how long it was going to take.

TT : 64:27, the last half took well over 2/3 of the time.

  10. Morey, dude.. that is a great story. Funny stuff. I actually remember noticing that I was 5 thrusters in @20 minutes, so I am with you, the last 10 thrusters, pullups, burpees, and the lunges took me the next 20 minutes! The thrusters were my doom as well.

  11. A day behind, but I got this in. Fletcher, you beat me on this one.

I had a couple of subs, detailed below. Craig, I matched your MU sub w/ 21 high PUs/deep ring dips.

    15 Muscle-ups - 21 Fletcher progressions
30 Push Jerks, 40 pound dumbbells - no dbs, used 95# barbell
    30 Double-unders - tuck jumps

    41:15

Those squat cleans killed me to start off; they alone took about 7mins for me. Thrusters were friggin' easy compared to them. My shoulders were rubber after this.
