Next time gonna get 235lbs. Also I got a cool slow motion capture of the lift on my training blog if anyone's interested, I really learn a lot watching clips especially when you PR something.
I got a buddy coming over for the first time to workout. He's done crossfit before, but it's the first time he's come over to my home turf. So I came up with this little WOD I call the Grindhouse.
"The Grindhouse"

Jacob, how did your rookie buddy do? a 230 HPC at your BW is sick. I think Myles can actually get 240+ too and Myles, don't you weigh about 185? I think that's where Jacob is at.
When is my PR ever going to increase on this one?
warmup: 1K row in 3:30. That was Nastola! Try that sometime boys, let me know how it goes. This is the right pace for a 2K in 7 (which was my intention), but I stopped after 1K, I just knew I didn't have it in me to hold that pace and I want to go for it one more time before I leave for Belgium in 8 days, so I backed down.
135-185-200-210-225(F)-225(F)-185x3 unbroken
225 attempts weren't very close either. What is it about that last 15 pounds man?!?
PR is 220, 210 wasn't too bad today, so I went for a PR and failed dammit! POOP!
1k row: 3:54. My shortness is way off the 7 minute 2k pace all of you are approaching. My best 2k so far is just under 9 minutes.
155, 175, 195(f), 195(f), 195
Soreness from yesterday showed up early and not warming up properly hurt on this one. Picked up 205, but could feel the hammy tightening up on me. So, I didn't push it.
Pat did great, he's a pretty fit dude and played college basketball and still is very active with basketball so he's got the wind in him. We were neck and neck the whole time, I just went with a little heavier weight because that's what I need to do in order to make progress with things.
I'm still trying to wrap my brain around some type of progressive training plan to gain strength, but I'm giving myself another week to really hatch it out and get a solid program that I'd be pleased with.
As for the cleans, I just want to be able to tie it all together to have a clean and jerk at that weight within the next 3 months or so.
WODoers:
ReplyDeleteGoing fishing today, so subbed row 2k, not time to wait for gym to open.
7:35 seven second pr. Pace boat really helped out with not killing myself in the beginning.
Laid me out flat for 5 minutes. Long ways to go to get in with the sub 7:20 group.
Felt good today

ReplyDeleteLast PR was 180, I think form matters a hell of a lot here.
