WODoers: Traveling today so first missed WOD in long time. Taking Dave Castro's advice and just going to not worry about it and get back on it tomorrow.
I did row yesterday, and I learned how to set up the pace boat on the C2. You just select new work out, then pick distance, and it lets you pick your distance and set a pace boat. It's cool, you can race against your own or someone else's time.
It was funny. I set the pace boat for 1 second more than Craig's 7:15 2k time, even number issue, and raced Craig. It took about a minute to catch the pace boat and then about another minute to completely pass it. Then I looked down and saw I was doing 47 strokes a minute and I thought to myself, "This cannot possibly go on for very long." The only thing more powerful than a positive thought, is a negative one. I completely gassed at 2:45 and tried not to puke as was forced to stop and I watched the pace boat cruise on by.
I have a very long way to go to catch Mr. Fletcher's 2k time.
Justin, my goal is to get down to 7 minutes flat... but I need someone there yelling in my ear the whole time because the pace is insane. I thought I could do it last time but I was truly getting pukey and barely finished. My CF buddy Sean is coming over for a WOD Sunday morning, I might try it then with him screaming at me with the Slipknot cranked up. My strategy last time was for the first 1K row a pace that was faster than 7 mins, then I could backoff a little bit for the second 1K, but I gassed. This time I am going to try to row the exact pace from the beginning down to the buzzer. To row a 7 min 2K you have to hold a 1:45 split. I think I held a 1:42 or so the first 1K last time, but it was too much, then I got up past 1:50 during some of the second 1K, I couldn't hang. I'm also interested in experimenting with the damper settings. I think next time I try this, since it's a shorter distance I'll try it at 6, last time I was at 5.
