This picture is from the "Highway of Death" from the first Gulf War. We drive through here on a pretty regular basis. "No pictures authorized!" I am pretty damn sure I am not the first to take pictures!
This AM was kind of a guessing game where to go with this, but was pretty wiped by the last set, for sure. Had to break the last set up into 17, 8, 5.
I felt pretty fucking strong this a.m. Are you feeling froggy Myles, cause I think I may have finally gotten you on a strength WOD. I am still in awe of your 405# back squat.
I had to break the 30 up as 26 and 4 cause the bar started to fall so I had to rack and reposition, and shake my wrist out a little. So I don't know if it counts as rx'd or not. It is just really awkward to try and hold that weight for the minute or so it takes to do all those reps.
Happy Holidays All!
P.S. A ex-college football, now body builder was at the gym today. He asked if he could work in with me on the cage where I was doing front squats. Rather that try to explain to him that deadlifts can be done anywhere that there is gravity and a floor! I agreed to let him work in. Man, he was super proud of himself when he did 30 135# deadlifts in a row. He has at least 20# on me and he is not fat. He told me all about how he used to do 50 in a row in college and how his legs were "gigantic" like "tree trunks" and how I needed to do hack squats to burn my quads and how going past parallel might not be a good idea and how I should probably not do one rep max and blah ba fucking blah...anyway he didn't say shit after he saw me do the 315 single and the 20 175# front squats. His routine has turned him from a college athlete into an all show and no go bb.
He does a lot of curls and some kind of half pull-up. The funny part is he wears full length tights all winter long...actually its pretty gross. If there was a rule, it would be against it.
Well fuck, I wish I would have seen your numbers first Justin. I wasn't to sure of this one and as to how long to rest. I did the 1 rep then changed the weight and went right into the higher reps. Which burned the legs real good. My numbers 275-185 275-135 275-95 Total 1240 After doing it I knew I could have gone bigger. Now after seeing those big numbers from you Justin I feel like little girl. Got to love those bodybuilders. You really can't reason with their Muscle and Fitness routines. All you can do is lift in front of them and that usually sets them straight.
Had to break the last set up and did 20 & 10. Not for the weight, but my freaking wrists were killing me. I'm not real flexible when it comes to this lift.
Morey, is that the ocean front view?
ReplyDeleteWarmed up with the up/down the ladder with jumping rope, then on to the front squats.
225, 185, 245 (PR I think), 135, 225, 45
Total = 960?
I'm off to MT tomorrow afternoon!! Can't wait to get out of here for a little while.
Merry Christmas fellas.

Justin, sounds like you were talking to an ex-college football water boy now turned vagina.
