This blog is for a bunch of guys who do CrossFit Workouts from all over the place to post our results, musings, and ramblings for all to see.
WODoers: Struggled through a 5.2 mile run in 50:22 on Sunday. Going to hit the Clean and Jerk afterwork tonight and then Tommy V in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI am a little worried about how slow the run was, but I think it was the 5k and Eva slowing me down.
Look at that globulin of adipose tissue. I bet that guy sits around and drinks beer, doesn't have a job, and never exercises. Just look at em.
ReplyDeleteDudes, first meeting with my PT today. Dr. Amy Valenta, a doctor of PT. She knows what's up. I am in a hurry so here's the short version (the blog dudes breath a sigh of relief)... she thinks I'll be back to "normalish" in 4 months or so if I follow her orders and more importantly her restrictions, but there are some things because of my pathology (my damn vertrebral problems) that she says I should never do again at all: 1) Lift really heavy stuff, 2) fully extended GHDs, and 3) anything that causes my back to extend beyond "straight up" (that's why no GHD's cos of the backwards bending).... specifically also, kipping pullups aren't good. Maybe a little kip but nothing where my legs are whipping backwards.
She loves the GHD as an exercise, she loves the deadlift, but that is for normal people without a jacked up spine. Actually though, she wants me deadlifting, just not super heavy, more like sets of 12.
So I have some stretches I have to do a lot of for the next few days, I see her again on Thursday. The good news is, I will be able to do barbell lifting again in a few months, just really light, but that's cool, at least she didn't go down the same road as the doctor and say "never again".... so I can do a lot of the main site stuff, just scaled. I'm cool with that! I'm gonna miss those GHDs. She did say if I hold my hands behind my ears with my elbows flaired out to the side that would make coughing hurt 3 days out... cos we know we love that feeling.
That wasn't very short. You knew it.
"Globulin of adipose tissue" Fletcher? Nice. The rest also sounds like pretty good news after a couple of rough weeks for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm a day behind after this weekend's wedding festivities (and necessary recovery period). Legs are still sore from Karen/Eva, which sucks. But as I've been told, when you drink the night away, you waste the work of an entire day...
Anyway, I made up yesterday's C&J, made a PR and posted it there. I'll see Tommy tomorrow.
WODoers:
ReplyDeleteI think this is just shy of rx'd on 15' rope. Seated start means no momentum at the start, so not sure if it isn't just as tough. I did from the seated position to 9'6" up on the rope. NO FEET AT ALL.
This was tough! tt= 29:22
Climbing rope is really hard. My buddy Sean has a real deal 15 footer hanging from a tree and I couldn't quite get up it.
ReplyDeleteI did thrusters as rx'd (15-6, 10-5, 9) and then towel PUs from sitting (top-hand at full arm extension from the floor) 120-90-60. Those killed my time; last time this WOD came up, I did jumping towel PUs in 23 and change. Today,
ReplyDeleteTT = 27:40
The pulls from a sitting position allowed me to use my legs a bit, just like in a normal rope climb, but this was still much tougher than jumping PUs.
Got to this one a day late and did it as the 2nd of a double with Annie. Not that I was planning on going as Rx'ed on the rope climbs, but I really struggled with the rope climbs tonight. I got caught up in the rope ladder right next to the vertical rope on my second trip up. It kind of scared me hanging 10 feet in the air trying to untangle my legs and shit just hanging on with my hands. So, I did close grip pull-ups with the close grip low-lat handle swung over a horizontal bar as subs.
ReplyDeleteRounds of:
21 115# thrusters - 11, 10
2 rope climbs, 28 close grip PU's (6 climbs)
15 115# thrusters - 9, 6
28 close grip PU's (4 climbs)
9 115# thrusters - unbroken
14 close grip PU's 9 (2 climbs)
TT = 23:35
Way to go to you animals doing this one as Rx'ed. Later fellas.
