Justin excellent post. The sacrifice these men gave for our country is inspiring. I'm in for whatever WOD we come up with. If you haven't seen these series yet, I highly recommend Band of Brothers and Pacific.
Time to WOD. Not sure on the RD's. I don't think I can do those yet. Any suggestions on a sub?
Justin, thank you for the reference to PFC Biddle. I'm reminded of my wife's Uncle Mike (Michael Losordo), who passed away last winter with none of us in this generation knowing of his deeds during WWII. At his funeral, a Captain who served with him and remained a family friend finally, and eloquently, told us of the actions Uncle Mike undertook in Italy as a sniper and soldier during the war. Details aside, it was one of the most heartwrenching stories I ever heard, and while I always respected my adopted uncle, his story endeared me to him as much as anything I'd ever experienced firsthand. Your Biddle reference brought that experience right back, and thanks for that.
Uncle Mike never spoke of the war. But he never needed to, because the way he lived his life yelled unerringly of what it meant to him. He was the walking embodiment of his generation: hard-working, gnarled, unflinching, skinflint and yet more generous than any person I've ever met. The sun never beat him up in the morning; his five brothers never worked harder than him at their construction business; his hands never grew soft; his love for his family knew no bounds; his Yankee hat never came off even though he lived in Boston; and his cane, a permanent memory of the services he performed in defense of his country, never failed to hit its mark when waking me up in the morning.
With this in mind, I'll propose the following, to be performed at our own leisure (as provided by PFC Biddle, Uncle Mike, and all those serving with and after them):
Hey guys.... made this up today. After the first round I scaled OHS to 75 lbs, back was making me cringe @95. Amazing what a difference 20 lbs makes when overhead even when fairly light!
7 full rounds + 5 CTB's and all 10 RD's at the buzzer. Ass kicker, shoulder burner. I like this one. It's like Cindy, just more evil.
Chas, I am into the new hero WOD, as if we need more challenging hero WODs right? :-)
Fletcher: check out his site http://www.cmohs.org/
ReplyDeleteWODoers: I did 4 dead hang ring touch shoulder then muscle up to 10 ring dips and squats as rx'd. This sucked ass!
4 rounds + 4pu + mu and 6 ring dips

I listened to my shoulder and scaled on this one. Still a great WOD. OHS just plain nasty for me.

10 Push-ups
15 75# OHS's
6 Rounds + 5 C2B's, 10 PU's and 7 OHS's
