I wasn't sure how heavy to go on the DLs either Chris. I was trying to find some benchmarks from the site in terms of % 1RM, but the only one I could find was Lipson who went at about 70% and his numbers are off the chart so I don't know if that's a good base.
So I went with 245#, which is about 2/3 my own 1RM and a weight I figured would be on the bubble for going unbroken thru all 3 sets. It worked pretty well; I only broke the last set 7/3. GHDs off my bench w/ feet anchored by a barbell.
TT = 8:10
Toughest part I found about this WOD was breathing, since I hold my breath thru each DL and GHD.
Chas I went with the same weight as well. I probably should of gone a little heavier, but I wanted to move the weight as quickly as possible. Especially after watching the Mikko video. He is an amazing athlete. DL's unbroken, GHD's on the Yukon GHD bench.
TT: 5:19
I'm with you on the breathing. I do the same thing on the DL's. That and my hammies were on fire. Man do I have some work to do, you guys destroyed me on Whitten. I guess that's what happens when I had to sit on the sidelines for 4 months. Okay that's enough excuses for me. One day at time.
I eased back into it with the deadlif wod. I picked 245#s for the deads, they were pretty easy. The ghds crushed me. The last 20 took over 2 minutes. I think I was stiff from the twelve hours of travel the day before. tt=7:54
I missed day 44 because of that travel, but I was back on the horse today. In the hotel "gym" in mexico there was no pullup bar, so I put a tricep extension bar over the top of the lat pulldown machine and did half l-sit pullups while spread eagle straddling the seat. Between that and the hsps, people at the gym thought I was fucking crazy. Of course, I thought people running on a treadmill for 50 minutes while on vacation in mexico were fucking crazy. I was only doing my shit cause I had too, not cause I wanted to.

Well you certainly kicked my ass on this one. I'm a slow muther on those GHDs.
ReplyDeleteI chose 225 for the DL's, and did ball-under-ass with feet anchored.

All DL's unbroken, but GHD's not so much. Probably going to do Whitten tomorrow. Later fellas.
