If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursed lot.If we must die, O let us nobly die, So that our precious blood may not be shed in vain; then even the monsters we defy Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
What though before us lies the open grave?Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack,Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!
Claude McKay, famous black poet who's poem was ripped off by Winston Churchill, Winston was a great man with a good cause, but good to know the original words to the we will fight on the beaches speach were spoken by a black american man.

Mikey: Just remember what coach says, " Doing pull ups without using your legs is like running without moving your arms!"
ReplyDeleteWODoers: Man I hurt today. Slow and steady. Didn't have full range of motion on the squats until the second round, so sore and inflexable until the blood got flowing.

Killer speech Justin. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote about running without your arms, I hadn't heard that. I'm gonna pass on this WOD cos' I am going mountain biking after work, 1,600 foot vertical climb in the heat. No alcoholic beverages last night. Amazing, for me. Want to do that more often. My abs are still quite sore from the GHD's 2 days ago. Damn... so I had a protien drink last night instead of a beer. Might be better for those abs.
Details on the first event of the games (FIVE events in one day) are posted

Man I am beat down. Let's are so sore, run made them feel a little better but squats killed me. I did shave off almost 30 seconds from the last time though.

I completely agree. I'm sore as hell everywhere. Yesterday was my day of active rest. The WOD
ReplyDeleteStruggle walking up stairs, standing from a seated position, getting out of bed, sitting down in a chair
Softball game at 6:30, and again at 8:30
TT = all day
Hitting up yesterday's WOD today. Later fellas,
Mike
I mountain biked last night, and my legs feel a lot better today. Perfect timing for a rest day. All of the Day 1 events are posted on the CrossFit Games site. A 4 foot spike drive into the ground? Cool. Crazy. Hill sprint with 70 pounds of sandbags? Wicked.
ReplyDeleteThose fucking front squats have been killing me for the past 2 days. Reluctantly trying to play catch up and did this one this AM.
ReplyDeleteDefinately not a PR here, but got it dun...

Did this one last night. The treadmills I was on wouldn't show the distance ran for some reason, so I set it at 6 and ran 2:30 on each 400m. Front squats were still lingering for me as well with today's squats.
