Rest Day

Wodoers:
This is the picture I took while leisureley walking my dogs about 3 seconds before I made eye contact with the mama moose today. Needless to say I own a pair of pussy labrador retrieviers who were 160 yards down the road while she chased me through the neighbor's yard. It is fucking hillalrious, people always want to ask if they, the dogs, would protect me and Terry if the chips were down, the answer is no! They wouldn't even been near the scene of the attach! It was crazy. I am very glad I have been x-fitting and I used some trees to get away, but it was the real deal for about 15 seconds. Truth is you can outcircle a tree with a moose pretty easy, but watch out for deep snow! Glad I haven't been sitting on my ass for the last year.

  1. Thats crazy Kook! How do you outcircle a tree with a moose? It has snowed another 18 - 24 inches here the past 24 hours. Been keeping up on the shoveling and plowing the best I can. That makes about 5-6 feet in the past week and a half.

  2. Kook, labs like birds and water not snow and moose. You just got the wrong tool for the job. On the bright side, you're totally ready for the day you get attacked by a mallard.

  3. Morey,it was more of a mad dash to a row four or five little trees, and then the old child hood game of if your going to come and try to trample me from the South, then am I going run North around the trees. The moose is slow laterally, but I way underestimated its first step it! It went from munching leaves 30 yards away to 10 feet from stomping my ass faster than I could think o shit.
    Mike: That is really funny.

  4. Got too bored on my lazy Sunday. It's a nice sunny day here today with NO MOOSE in sight. So, I went for a run around my neighborhood park.

  5. WODudes,

Got up and trained a client this morning at 7am. After that Myles and I met up for the showdown on the pullup bar and rower.
WOD: Qualifier for the Australia Gams Qualifier
    21 - 15 - 9 Reps
    Burpee
    Pull Ups
    Row 400m

Myles was off the bar first at 21 and about 5 burpees ahead at 21. The Tornado spun slow and steady and by the time the last row took place we were neck and neck. Last 400 really sucked. We were completely out of gas at the end.

    Myles 9:24
    Tornado 9:18

Great fun, once recovered felt like this was a great ass kicker, much respect Myles you were a driving FORCE throughout the workout.

  6. Fletcher any luck on that GHM? I never got around to looking at that updated gymcor.com site but that was the place I originally picked it up from.

Hopefully things are going good out by you because the weather out here is miserable and not only is the roof of my house about to start leeking but all this snow is preventing me from setting up my climbing rope.

    Any how...later.

  7. Justin, this story is crazy. Moose will kick your ass, the mamas are very protective. I went to Yellowstone years ago and was talking to this forest ranger guy who told me that he once saw a mama moose kick a full sized grizzly bear so hard that the thing rolled backwards up hill, then limped away. The bear was approaching the baby moose, bad idea. I am VERY glad you didn't get kicked by mama moose.

Jake - Haven't got one yet, just wanted to know what you use. Still reconciling the purchase of my C2 rower with my wife, I have to pay that off first within the confines of our "spending money" system. It's supposed to be high 50s today and high 60s tomorrow, but we did get some snow. The rope is one thing I need to add to the arsenal at some point.

Weave, Myles, good job on the rest day madness. I can't wait to hear your report about the qualifiers.
