Forgot my Ipod and had to overcome listening to "Beast of Burden" playing softly over the gym speakers for the first 3/4 of the WOD. At least "Thunderstruck" came up next to help with the finish. Well rested abs made this a cake walk. TT= 7:58pr
It is funny, this workout used to be a debilitating struggle, and now it feels more like active rest than a WOD.
I use a 45 degree back extension machine propped up on a 8" and a 6" reebok steps. Its about 5 degrees short of parrallel, so I can't quite get touch the floor, but my back is extended as far as it can go and well past parrallel with the floor. If I prop it up parrallel then it starts to fall over, which is scary. I usually just touch my shins, I hadn't thought of that until you mentioned the toes, I will have to touch them next time. I would love to try it on a real GHSU machine. My feet don't lock in so great on my set up so I think it would be close match, but I always wonder if it is easier the way I do it. It seems to me it be would harder on my legs, but easier on my abs to do it on the purpose built machine, on account the better foot holds. I know that doing it with that modiifed set up is harder than locking feet in dumbells sitting on a bench and touching my head to the ground.
Based on the MONTANA cases I've seen, a sheep is good to go at two years old if you can hang on, but you Montana boys be careful, that kind of thing is illegal here in Wyoming.
Did a hat trick today. Started the morning w/ todays WOD. No GHD anywhere to be found so did just sit ups and Supermans.
TT: 7:27 yes this is much easier than using a GHD and floor to toes
After work went for the power cleans and followed w/ "Cindy." Felt pretty good When I started Cindy but petered right out at 10 minutes. Only 13 rounds. I was fucking tired.
Not Rx'd don't have a GHD. I did situps on a big ole fit ball, leaning all the way back head almost touching ground and good mornings w/45# bar. TT 10:11 I know it's not the same but I wanted to make it at close as I could.
I have a GHD, and it's killer, only got 3 rds last time in 12:38. This time got 4 rds in 14:08. Never done this many (120/100) in a WOD. Finished the first 3 rounds in just under 10, so some improvement, but still DNF.

Justin, I have to ask.... did you use a real GHD bench and do true GHDs, hand to floor and then to toe???

Justin, you are becoming a machine. Weaver said you "used to be kind of a fat guy!" :-)
ReplyDeleteCrossFit does wonders for those mentally strong enough to stick it out.
I read a lot about the risks of diving into GHD's too hard and fast, so when I get mine I'll ease into it.

ReplyDeleteStill kinda fat by crossfit standards.
All right, I'll admit it, he said "He used to be a fat dude" but I didn't want to get TW in trouble. Now I've done it.
ReplyDeleteWOD Crew,
ReplyDeleteFirst time on a real GHDSU machine. Lower back is completely smoked.
TT: 12:10
Later fellas.
Kook,
ReplyDeleteIs that 16 year age of consent in sheep years or human years?
